NBA Weekend

So after the NBA all star weekend comes to a close, I’m left feeling how I usually do after this… A little disappointed.

How do we make these weekends more relevant? better?

I’ve heard A LOT of ideas from people over these last three days, one thing I found to be true of all of the ideas, that the athletes need to have a reason to play!  It’s got to be higher stakes, more money, something. I haven’t decided what my fix is yet, but if you could change one thing about the NBA all star weekend what would it be??

STOP COMPARING MICHAEL

Here is the thing… any real sports fan who knows anything about basketball would not even begin to entertain the idea that LeBron James is in the same ATMOSPHERE as Michael Jordan.

1) they do not play the same type of game

2) they do not play the same position

3) 6 ( if you do not know why I said this stop reading)

4) LeBron hasn’t even played a FULL season and playoffs while dominating

5) DIfferent time, different game

6) Michael MADE the NBA what it is today

7) See Nike Air logo…. no further explanation needed

8) Michael did not call up Larry Bird and Magic Johnson to create a Dream Team to play on, see Luke Longley for reference of what Michael made look good

9) Michael not only won championships in the NBA but also in the NCAA

10) NO ONE I repeat NO ONE will ever be Michael, people need to stop looking for another Michael Jordan IT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

People need to realize that Michael was a phenom, something that cannot be repeated. He transcended the game of basketball. EVERYONE wanted to be like Mike. I know it is hard for people, especially young people to understand how great Michael was… piece of advice.. go watch a series from the 90’s and be ready to be amazed. You know that ESPN does these comparisons just for ratings and to piss people off so GET A CLUE!

on a lighter note, Happy Valentine’s Day!

The Fakers

I don’t know if there is anything I like more than watching the Lakers lose after all the hype this off season. With the acquisition of Dwight Howard, the Lakers were FOR sure the favorite in the Western Conference. But after a 17-24 start, a second head coach… Can they salvage this season?

My answer is NO. Until Jim Buss figures out that what the hell he is doing it’s not going to happen.

The Buss family bought the Lakers organization back in 1979 and turned it into one of the most recognizable franchises in all of sports.

Right now, the Lakers are the laughing stock of the NBA and I don’t see it changing with Pau Gasol on the bench..

What needs to happen for the Lake Show to be back on top? (not that I want them there)

If you want further proof of the Lakers demise, watch the no-name Bulls team beat them by a dozen.
